Flat Feet

Orthotics have been used for years to help people with flat feet. Traditionally, when we think of orthotics, we think of a hard plastic insert that is placed in the shoe. It cups the heel and supports the arch but, because it is not flexible, it does not extend the full length of the foot. This design makes the orthotic uncomfortable and ineffective for many people. It also repositions the arch using "brute force." Because it is not flexible, it forces the arch into its correct position, but does nothing to relieve the pressure that is forcing the arch to collapse, causing flat feet, in the first place.

We have found that the proper functioning of the arch is enhanced by not only supporting the arch but gently rotating the forefoot so that the arch does not come under excessive pressure. Once the foot is rotated and stabilized, the arch can be comfortably supported. This discovery led to the development of our unique line of full-foot orthotics.

For flat feet with excessive pronation, we recommend the Daily Wear Orthotic for light activity, such as walking. Orthotics customized in fit and function for many other activities are also available—browse the product list to find the one that matches your specific needs.
